Enterprise M3 LEP is a business development network made up from across the private and the public sector working together in partnership. Our role is to maximise the growth opportunities that arise from economic development, planning and infrastructure delivery in the local area. The games industry in Guildford and Aldershot was on show to the world this week, as representatives from fifteen British embassies were welcomed to Surrey to help promote the sector overseas.
Hosted by the University of Surrey at their 5G Innovation Centre, representatives from overseas offices of the Department of International Trade were keen to hear details of the outstanding strengths of Guildford, Aldershot and the wider region as hubs of creative activity with great opportunities for investment.
The delegates visited VR success story Figment Productions, which specialises in applying games technologies and skills in other sectors . Well-known innovations in the theme park sector are among the company’s triumphs and a great example of the dynamism of the local sector.

The Greater South East Energy Hub is a new initiative, a partnership of 11 LEPs including Enterprise M3, led by Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority and funded by BEIS. The region’s growing global reputation as a centre for innovation in creative tech receives an important boost.
More than thirty creative tech businesses from Asia were drawn to Guildford to discover why it has been dubbed the “Hollywood of Gaming”.
Over 30 companies from the gaming, VR, animation and AI industries in India and South Korea attended a one-day show case event in Surrey.
It included highlighting the strengths of the Guildford and Aldershot gaming/VR cluster, a presentation by holographic business Double Me, and information about support for companies moving into the area. The day also featured a demonstration of a 5G hologram, a discussion about the future of new and innovative technology and models for international commercialisation. Opportunities for collaborating were also highlighted throughout the visit.

Dave Axam, Chair of Enterprise M3, met the Prime Minister at Number 10 this week as part of a LEP Network meeting, made up of business leaders representing 38 LEP’S across the UK.
Talks focussed on where LEPs carry maximum impact: delivering the objectives of the Modern Industrial Strategy in local areas, and investing in the skills people and businesses need.
EM3 was one of only two LEP’s mentioned in the Prime Minister’s opening remarks about delivery around our 5GIC Innovation Centre work.
This is the first of the meetings planned for the PM to meet with the Council of LEP Chairs to further develop closer links with Government.

Enterprise M3’s Enterprise Adviser Network is expanding! Enterprise M3 has secured funding to roll out the Careers and Enterprise Company's programme of Enterprise Adviser Network (EAN) to the whole of the Enterprise M3 area. The EAN is already delivering successfully in two of our areas but we want more! The demand is high, we have eager and engaged local businesses, and schools and colleges are ready to welcome the support.
Motivating, inspiring and supporting young people in making informed choices about their careers and future is central to the aim of the EAN.

Sitting at the heart of a local cluster system is the Senior Enterprise Coordinator, leading and managing a team of Enterprise Coordinators.
Enterprise M3 LEP has received a significant boost in diverse talent and experience to an already strong team, with the appointment of six new board members.
